The psychological harm acne or Zits brings to its many sufferers should not be underestimated, fortunately treatments are improving all the time. This is good news with the range of effective skin care treatments improving all the time.

We can classify acne skin care products into 3 broad categories, preventive, over-the-counter, specialized and on-prescription acne products.

The preventative products are formulated to treat the skin in an effort to prevent acne from arising like skin cleansers and makeup removers. They use these products to protects their skin from the environment even if they do not have the acne condition.

Many of these cleansers act in almost exactly the same way as acne skin care products which have been formulated to limit the amount of oil or sebum forming in the pores. These products prevent the oil from getting trapped in pores and can hamper the growth of bacteria, this can lead to the bad skin condition.

These can be bought over the counter or on the internet. The peels clean the skin by removing all surface pollution and dead skin cells which can block the pores.

There is a huge market for these types of acne skin care products as they don’t require a consultation with a dermatologist. These include products like vanishing creams which extract the excess oil from the skin.

It is preferable when you first start using this type of product to keep the concentration of it low, around 5.5 percent is best. It is not always possible to find an acne skin care product that works first time.

There are benefits of seeing your doctor or dermatologist, they can prescribe you with a prescription for treatments not available over the counter, for example a course of antibiotics. Never try to squeeze your zits as it can lead to permanent damage of your skin.

Another effective course of skin care treatment is the use of hormone therapy, hormone changes are know to be one cause of acne. This means that a sufferer does not have to put up with this condition anymore.

Apply the basic Acne Cure program, for 4 weeks. If you see no improvement, you may have intractable acne. In that case, take careful notes of the skin’s condition at that time Now continue the program for another 2 weeks. If, after that time, there is further improvement, continue for yet another 2 weeks, and again reexamine the skin. Occasionally, you will continue to see improvement over several 2-week periods; the Cure is working, but more slowly than usual. Continue to apply the full program in 2-week increments until there is no further improvement over the last 2 weeks.

Your doctor will prescribe the concentration of Retin-A that is most appropriate for your skin, and will advise you on how to use it to best effect. Generally, we recommend that you apply it in the evening before your final ice and BP treatment.

You can expect to see some redness as you implement this plan, usually during the second week. However, if it starts to become severe, or if you start to suffer from unpleasant irritation, reduce the frequency.

If the acne persists beyond the 3-week period of Retin-A usage, continue the Acne Cure program, but stop the Retin-A. Instead, add an internally administered antibiotic.

Tetracycline, that old but effective standby, works well for most patients-and is relatively inexpensive and widely used. Several other antibiotics also work well (although all have possible side effects). Your physician, knowing your history, will advise you of your best alternative, dosage, and length of usage.

Tetracycline, and minocyclin (and several other antibiotics), in addition to destroying P. acnes, have an anti-inflammatory impact, which helps slow down the spread of the disease.

The Acne Cure program will eradicate the large majority of acne, and the remainder will be entirely wiped out by one or more of the steps in the four-step “intractable acne” program .

Unfortunately, we women sometimes have more body hair than we would like. The razor whilst doing a good job, it is only for a short space of time so a better solution is needed. You can obtain a very professional finish by using hot wax hair removal. It is not the most recent of methods but as a beauty maintenance treatment it stands the test of time.

The hot wax hair removal system is an old one but has lasted well against the newer methods. It is not a perfect system to remove unwanted hair but there are some great benefits. Compared to many of the newer methods, wax removal is inexpensive. Everyone knows that shaving is not the ideal method and or course if you cut yourself it doesn’t want to stop bleeding.

Of course if you are unlucky enough to nick yourself shaving, it’s right as you’re getting ready for an appointment. At least with wax removal you don’t have to worry about the 5pm shadow like a guy does or about little cuts. The best part about using hot wax hair removal is what happens when the hair grows back; it gets progressively thinner over time. So of course, the more I wax the better and there’s no comparison to shaving.

Of course once you start shaving, the hair just seems to grow back thicker, quite the opposite of the wax system. Some people are scared of the hot wax hair removal because it is portrayed as a little painful but it isn’t that bad at all. If you really want to experience pain you should try the Epilady. The person who thought up this evil little device must enjoy inflicting pain on others. If you don’t believe me, I dare you to use one for more than a couple of seconds, then you’ll see what I mean.

I first tried the hot wax hair removal system after one of my college friend’s who was born in India suggested I try it. Since I tried that method, I haven’t gone back to any of the other hair removal systems. It’s ironic really when you consider what a poor opinion many people have for wax removal systems. I don’t believe it deserves this reputation for causing discomfort when all the other methods are considered.

For many people that enjoy having that sun darkened look without the burning or dangers, sun-beds and tanning booths have become the most popular method to have a year round tan. However, with more and more research coming out on the dangers and the risk of skin cancer, some are now turning to alternatives to the dangerous skin damaging practice. One of the choices people are now making is to go to a salon that offers spray tanning for an almost instant, safe effect. Although there are many other methods, spraying seems to provide the most even and consistent tan available at the moment.

Manufacturers, quick to join the rush, have produced home spray tanning systems. Whichever method you decide upon there are some simple but basic steps needed to ensure the best effect. First off, you should exfoliate your skin to remove any dead skin. If this isn’t done, dead skin will gradually drop off leaving odd, light patches and spoil the effect.

Once this process is complete, it is advisable to prepare your skin further by applying a moisturizing cream (or lotion) to it which will make the agent easier to apply. Once you have done this you will be ready to apply the tanning lotion or cream but remember to wear latex gloves as long applications mean that the tanning solution coats the hands producing an orange effect on the palms which everyone can see. To avoid any other application mistakes that could give away the fact that the tan is not real, make sure those fingers, feet, elbows and knees are only given the lightest of coats as they have a habit of coming out darker. Where a spray tanning system has been used it is quite normal, once it has been applied, to use some sort of towel to wipe any excess so streaking does not occur.

To avoid any smears, marks or cracking, you will need to relax and remain still, while the tanning agent dries. Don’t forget to wear some old clothes as fake tan is notorious for staining almost anything it touches. You should choose something dark and also maybe something you don’t particularly care for until the excess is worn off. Armed with this information it should be easier to have a fake tan that is safe and available all year round without anyone knowing what it is you are doing.

For the last few years if you have wanted to eliminate the signs of aging like wrinkles, sagging skin and other lines then it is more than likely you would consider using botox; there are many myths about what it is and before a person starts a course, it is worth finding out more information. Despite its recent rise to fame, the original research into this product is a few decades old. The substance is derived from Botulinum toxin, discovered nearly five decades ago; originally the purpose of this was to treat neurological disorders.

In 1989 it was finally approved by the FDA to treat eye muscle disorders; these included blepharospasm (uncontrollable blinking), strabismus (crossed eyes) and even wrinkles. In the year 2000 was given the all clear for the of treatment cervical dystonia. this is where severe neck and shoulder contractions were causing discomfort to a number of people, but other eye conditions were included in this approval. In their research, doctors discovered that Botox softened the frown lines between the eyebrows; after further tests in 2002 the FDA allowed it to be used for the first cosmetic enhancement and the drug finally had a new field of use.

Botox has a paralyzing affect when it is injected into areas of the forehead which control the muscles that cause frowning; when given sufficient injections given over a period of time, frown lines for example, will reduce in intensity. The lines will to the casual observer, disappear but the same process can now be used on laughter lines around the eyes and forehead lines as well. The form used in these injections is one that has been cleaned up and diluted, posing no threat; if it were not for the purification process this treatment could make us very sick.

The problem is that when we laugh, cry or frown for example, lines and wrinkles appear caused by the muscles that have helped create the expression; these injections can help eliminate those lines. When we are young and our skin is more elastic, these lines do not show but as we age the constant use of facial muscles leaves us with lines; when these creases become permanent, no kind of skin cream can get rid of them but this treatment can eliminate them temporarily. Because botox paralyzes the facial muscles, normal movement, expressions and gestures are almost impossible to make; these treatments provide the user with a facial surface that is smooth and often referred to as looking like a dummy or mannequin.

A person who has undergone this treatment still has enough movement to provide some expressions but they are limited; because most of the wrinkles and creases have all but disappeared, it appears that the person is younger than their true years. Whilst popular this cosmetic treatment is still very expensive for what it is; the average cost of just one injection in the United States ranges from a few hundred dollars to in excess of 1,000 dollars, depending on where the injection is used. The side-effects of regular botox use may take some time to appear as it is only a recent addition to the cosmetic surgeon’s armory but for now, its use does not seem to be diminishing.

It wasn’t that long ago when acne (Zits) was considered a curse for the many individuals that suffer from this problem; however, medical science continues to look at new remedies. It is one of those areas where research has continued to make advancements; these days, even with serious cases, there are many skin care treatments available. Despite the number of acne skin care products currently available on the market, they are broadly categorized into three distinctly separate groups:

    * Preventative: Creams, lotions etc. to help cleanse and tone the skin

* Over-the-counter

* Specialized, on-prescription acne products

Probably the largest part of the skin care market is products designed to clean the skin and inhibit the formation of acne; products like skin cleansers and toners fall into this category. Many people these days use products like this to maintain their skin; in many instances the user has never had a skin condition to worry about. Many of these cleansers act in almost exactly the same way as acne skin care products; they are formulated to reduce and limit the amount of oil in the pores of our skin. These types of products are reducing the chance of oil staying in the pores and aiding the growth of harmful bacteria which assists the formation of the skin condition.

Other skin care treatments can help exfoliate the skin; these are easily obtainable in any drug store. These work towards removing dead skin cells, reducing the possibility of pore-clogging and bacteria development. There are specialized acne skin care products available over-the-counter, they do not require the need of a prescription. Most of these creams etc. are based on benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, both of which are the enemies of bacteria (and hence acne); these ingredients are used to remove the additional oil in the pores of the skin.

Dermatologists recommend any product should have low concentrations of the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide (no more than 5.5 parts per hundred) if there is an adverse reaction; a safer alternative to benzoyl peroxide is anything containing alpha hydroxy acid. As with any type of zit cream, you may need to try a few acne skin care products until you find one that will suit your skin; however, if nothing you try seems to work, you should contact a dermatologist. There are benefits of seeing your doctor or dermatologist, they can prescribe you with a prescription for treatments not available over the counter, for example a course of antibiotics.

Your dermatologist may suggest a minor surgical procedure to remove the contents of pustules; although this is a minor procedure, if it were performed by the person themselves it could result in skin damage. Hormone treatment might be suggested as hormone changes can cause skin problems; studies show that hormone based skin care treatments often prove effective. Science has produced many effective treatments for this unkind condition.

The use of anti-ageing skin care products has grown enormously over the last two decades; it is not unreasonable to want to continue looking youthful for as long as possible when you consider how much longer most of us are living! This is achieved in beauty products by promoting the growth of connective tissue using the protein collagen which is the most abundant in the skin of all animals; collagen makes up approximately 25 percent of the total protein in the skin. Most anti-ageing products (collagen included) fall into a category of natural everyday products we all use; these are known as antioxidants which remove toxins from the body.

One of the best known anti-oxidants is vitamin C and despite continual research, no-one body involved can decide just exactly how much our body should consume on a daily basis. Skin care treatments that are based on vitamin C, pose the problem of becoming oxidized themselves as they come into contact with air during their usage.

More stable skin care treatments are now available that are almost as efficient and actually cost less to manufacture. These new anti-oxidant products are not quite as good as vitamin C although other naturally occurring compounds, vitamin E and lipoic acid can achieve the same effect.

Vitamin E is found in the blood and is an antioxidant that is also used to increase the body’s defenses against other health problems; it helps build resistance against infection like cancer for example. Lipoic acid, which is found inside every cell of the body, helps generate the energy that keeps us alive and functioning; it is also known to combat the signs of aging very effectively by repairing skin damage caused by the aging process.

Another group of products used to reduce the visible signs of ageing are phytochemicals which are compounds extracted from various plants and used in many anti-ageing skin care products. Like lipoic acid, phytochemicals help reduce the occurrence of cancers; for instance:

   *Cancer that attacks the Prostate

*Breast Cancer

*Colon Cancer

All of which are on the increase globally.

Other vitamins from the B group are also used in anti-ageing skin care like vitamins B5, B6 and B12 for example. The field of anti-ageing skin care products is vast and needs a great deal more research. There is no doubt that what has been learned so far is only a small part of the jigsaw puzzle; more long term effective methods will eventually be found to reverse or slow down the effects of aging.

In time it is hoped that less expensive and more reliable anti-ageing skin care products will become available for a larger number of people to use. It may be time to learn that not every synthetic anti-aging product is going to work; man-made products may never replace those that are available naturally! You know all these things but how many do you practice? Regular exercise, restful sleep, drinking plenty of water, eating a healthy diet and keeping your stress levels low are all necessary.

The term cellulite used in front of a woman often results in a response along the lines of disgust and dismay, as the appearance can be unsightly; predominantly accumulating in areas below the waist. Do not be fooled into thinking that this is a condition purely confined to women who are overweight because most carry additional fat anyway; even sporting women who do not carry much additional fat can have this condition.

The fats just below the skin surface push against the tissue which results in the skin surface having that dimpled look common of cellulite. The real cause of is unknown so is the reasons why some women are more prone to suffering with it than others but scientists believe that it could be due to the way the cells are structured beneath the skin of each individual.

One thing is for certain though ad that is this problem increases with age which is partly due to the reduction of collagen and elastin in the system which is why we tend to have more lines as we get older. Whilst many would disagree, this condition is often referred to a hormone imbalance problem as men almost never have this happen to them.

It is not uncommon to only see the cellulite when the skin is pinched between the fingers at which pint it can normally be felt as well but it is a very common complaint amongst women. Many factors can influence the buildup; ranging from the sex of the person to their age, genetic make-up, skin type and skin thickness, all have a part to play in its formation.

Currently there isn’t one single treatment that can rid a person of this condition because the cause has remained elusive despite considerable research into the area. One method that hides the cellulite quite well by puffing the skin is deep massage and an increasing number of clinics are now offering this therapy.

Other treatments involve liposuction (to remove fats) and mesotherapy (injection of drugs into the affected areas) which is expensive and out of reach of the majority of women. These known remedies offer only temporary relief and are likewise not advisable as liposuction for example should only be used to remove deep fats and is not very effective in the removal of cellulite.

A number of cosmetic manufacturers claim their creams are an effective method of removing the fat cells but it would seem these are just a method of masking the condition making it less visible and so far no definitive treatment exists. So far the best method is back to basics combining a healthy diet with exercise that gradually burns off the fat but not the connective tissue where it is found.

In addition, increasing the intake of water will help cleanse the system and flush out damaging toxins plus smokers should stop smoking or at least reduce it which will also be beneficial as smoking impacts negatively on the capillaries in the skin and reducing stress will help reduce the amount of cellulite.

Some people are more fortunate than others when it comes to how good their skin looks but how they achieve this is not a secret; skin care does not come easily to everyone but some basic techniques carried out regularly, should make a big difference. Although it still happens in the West, women are beginning to learn that beautiful skin does not come at the end of a knife but with other more natural methods. Beauty care products however, are formulated to work more naturally with the skin and are within almost everyone’s budget with other health advantages as part of the package.

It is no longer fair to just consider beauty care products as those used be the elderly like anti-aging products. The number of products available is huge and continues to grow; all designed to improve the health and beauty of the skin. With all the hard work our skin has to put up with, the least we can do is look after it.

Part one in your daily skin care regime is to use a cleansing agent to remove all the pollutions like smoke, dust and make-up that our skin has to put up with on a daily basis. To do this requires a gentle cleanser which must be used with cotton wool pads moving the wetted pads in a circular motion around the face until all areas have been done then once you have washed with warm water, use a soft towel to dab your skin until it is dry.

To ensure your PH balance is not disrupted, you will need to use a tone after the cleanser has been applied. Whilst the tone replaces the PH balance, moisturizing afterwards ensures the skin stays supple and can help reduce the signs of aging that come in the form of small wrinkles and lines. Beauty care products that moisturize the skin also form a barrier to lock in the moisture so the skin does not dry out.

Once or twice weekly you should treat your skin with an exfoliant or natural peel to remove dead skin cells and to deep cleanse your skin as part of you skin care routine. You must not forget however, that when you carry out this exfoliation you make sure that you continue with a complete cleanse and tone afterwards.

Eye creams are used to help maintain the delicate tissue surrounding your eye, these are specially formulated beauty care products that reduce the appearance of puffiness, dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles or to help improve elasticity and firmness. Taking some form of daily exercise and drinking plenty of water are two things you don’t need to spend a fortune on but will really improve the skin tone and feel. It is not a good idea to forget the important role our skin plays in our overall health and of course how we look so taking care of it is not just about vanity.

Diet and exercise may be modern buzz words that lose their meaning with each repetition, but if you want a shiny head of hair, there are certain foods that are best avoided. Don’t worry if this seems a little strange, what they are is listed below.

Many common junk foods including potato chips, snacks, chocolate, cakes and the ever popular Twinkies do not help maintain a shiny head of hair. Indulging in junk food every once in a while is not harmful, but your hair and other parts of your body will suffer if you do not add more vegetables to your diet.

This isn’t easy as the delicious junk foods mentioned above taste so good that trying to even cut back on them can prove difficult. If you are tenacious and successfully change your diet, the results will be seen in your hair and other areas of your body.
